Rustic
Rustic graded wood is by far the most popular grade. It has a lovely natural look, thanks to the knots, grains and colour variation in the oak. Any open knots will be filled in, giving your floor an aged wood effect.

A superb natural oak brushed and oiled engineered wood flooring The Studley Barn has a width of 125mm and come in random lengths between 300-1200mm and have an overall thickness of 14mm comprising of an 11mm multi-ply backing and a top 3mm layer of an oak veneer.
Brushed and oiled products are ideal for homes with pets due to the surface texture of the board making any claw marks or scratches pretty much unnoticeable. Multi-ply backed products such as this are also hugely resilient to temperature and humidity change which means that they can be laid in most rooms in the home, including conservatories, with the only exception being the bathroom.
Due to the stability of our engineered flooring products, laying the flooring in rooms with underfloor heating is not a problem and they are compatible with most systems in the modern home. Should you wish to revive your flooring, the 3mm wear layer, mentioned previously, enables you to sand down and refinish the surface up to 3 times. However this shouldn’t be necessary for the first 10-15 years in most domestic environments.
Each individual piece of timber has had a bevel carved into all four of the edges, meaning when two boards are fitted together there is a V shaped groove visible defining each individual plank, as can be seen in the images above. Each board is manufactured with a tongue and groove profile so that the boards can simply be slotted together. The tongue and groove system works by manufacturing two sides of the plank with a tongue and the opposing two sides with a groove, which neatly fit together.
The grade of this European oak is rustic. Thus meaning that it will contain some knots as is typical with most oak products.
There are 3 different methods of installation that can be used with this piece of flooring, these are; floating, nailed or fully glued down. You can read further into these methods by downloading our handy installation guide from the installation tab above!
