We know becoming carbon neutral doesn’t happen overnight, so we’ve made a few changes to the way we do things. That way, we can make a difference here and now.

Plant a Tree with Every Order

Any time we deliver flooring, we’ll plant a tree somewhere in the world.

Every tree planted contributes to reforestation across the globe and ultimately reduces carbon emissions.

Responsible Forestry

We know how important it is to source our wood responsibly and ethically. But we’re not just all talk. Our company, UK Trade Furnishings, has been awarded certifications by the FSC® and the PEFC.

Support for Simon on the Streets

We’ve teamed up with Simon on the Streets, a Yorkshire-based homeless charity, and as part of this partnership we’ll be running fundraising activities and raising awareness of homelessness in the UK.

We’ve committed to supporting Simon on the Streets until at least 2028.

Leaving a Smaller Footprint

We’ve been working with a carbon offsetting expert to measure our carbon footprint and work out how to make it smaller.

This has led us to offsetting carbon emissions produced across the business, where possible. As a result, we’ve helped fund a number of sustainability projects in China, Brazil and even Australia!

A few other ways we’re doing our bit...

Responsible Packaging

We've revamped our sample packaging to make it 100% recyclable and replaced our plastic polystyrene wrapping with one that can be reused over and over.

Our recyclable boxes are used for most of our sample packs but occasionally we use our old non-recyclable bags, just so we don’t waste them. But don’t worry, we’re phasing these out, so they won’t be around for much longer!

Greener IT Facilities

We host our website on Google Compute (GCP), which has been carbon neutral since 2007 and is expected to be totally carbon-free by 2030!

We always make sure any computers and IT equipment are reused or recycled. We also avoid printing, wherever possible and recycle all our used toner cartridges. These little changes help prevent unnecessary waste and reduce how much rubbish ends up in our landfills.

Volunteering Scheme

We offer a volunteering scheme, where staff can take time off work to volunteer for a charity or take part in a community initiative without sacrificing any pay.

We’re always on the lookout for new causes to support, so if you know a charity or social enterprise that would love a helping hand, please let us know!

Little Changes for Big Change

We know that when it comes to being kinder to the planet every little helps, so we’ve made a few new changes this year to make our office and warehouse a bit greener…

Swapping all our regular lightbulbs for LEDs means we save energy.
Baling our waste and sending it away for recycling prevents the use of landfills.
Introducing an effective recycling system to our office means less unnecessary waste and stops recyclable materials from being binned.
