National Tree Week is back for its 50th year and we’re proud to join the celebration! 

This nationwide event, led by The Tree Council, marks the beginning of the tree planting season and attracts conservation groups, volunteers and tree-lovers all over the UK. Across the country, thousands of trees and hedgerows will be planted, helping to clean the air and create habitats for wildlife.

The theme for 2025 is A Future Filled with Trees, which couldn’t feel more fitting. Sara Lom, CEO of The Tree Council, says, “Trees and hedgerows help us tackle climate change, provide homes for wildlife, improve our health and so much more. In return, we need to help them.”

And we couldn’t agree more! National Tree Week is a brilliant reminder that every effort, big or small, helps create a greener, tree-filled future for everyone.

An Update on Our Tree Planting

Since our April update, our tree planting efforts have flourished. Together with our customers and our partners, Ecologi and Carma, we’ve helped:

  • fund over 35,000 trees, 
  • remove 9,915 kilograms of CO₂ from the atmosphere, 
  • create 330 days of work for local communities. 

Our trees are planted across Senegal, Kenya, Tanzania, Mozambique and Madagascar, where they’re helping to restore landscapes, protect wildlife habitats and support livelihoods. Each new tree is part of something bigger - a growing network of reforestation projects that bring long-lasting environmental and social benefits. 

Why We Plant With Carma

We’re proud to have been working with Carma since April 2024 to create practical, lasting action for the sake of the planet. Their projects focus on nature-based solutions that restore land, support communities and tackle the effects of climate change simultaneously.

Back in 2015, world leaders came together and made a promise to secure the rights and well-being of everyone. As part of this, the United Nations created a global roadmap for ending poverty, protecting the planet and tackling inequalities called The Sustainable Development Goals.

With Carma by our side, we’ve been able to support 8 out of 17 goals:

  • Good Health and Well-being
  • Gender Equality
  • Clean Water and Sanitation
  • Affordable and Clean Energy
  • Climate Action
  • Life on Land

Our investment in sustainability not only means we’re helping to make progress towards a healthier planet, but also towards fairer opportunities for the people who care for it.

Reflecting on National Tree Week

As National Tree Week celebrates half a century of planting, it’s inspiring to look at how much has been achieved - not just across the UK, but within our own growing forests too. Every planted sapling represents hope, progress and a shared commitment to protecting the planet we call home.

For us, this week is more than just a date in the calendar. It’s a reminder of why we started planting trees in the first place: to make a real difference, one floor and one forest at a time. This year’s theme, A Future Filled with Trees, captures everything we’re working towards - healthier ecosystems, stronger communities and a greener tomorrow.

So, as celebrations take place across the country, we’re joining in by planting extra trees through our partnership with Carma, helping to grow the forests of the future.

What’s Next for our Sustainability Journey 

Our sustainability journey is always growing, just like our forests. From planting a tree with every order to supporting responsible forestry and local charities, we’re always looking for new ways to make a positive impact.

Every small change, from choosing recyclable packaging and offsetting emissions to switching to greener systems, brings us closer to a business that gives more than it takes. We’ll keep building on the progress we’ve made, finding new ways to support our planet, our people and the communities around us.
