What is wastage?
When working out how much flooring to buy, it's important to add on a bit extra. This is because each room is unique in its size and shape and often you'll have to cut several boards to accommodate this. This extra allowance is known as 'wastage'.

Description
The Brimham Farmhouse Oak is a shiny natural European solid oak flooring product which has a total thickness of 18mm (1.8cm). 18mm is deemed as a standard thickness when it comes to solid wood flooring and it also allows you to sand and refinish the product approximately seven times, making your flooring look brand new again. This process is usually carried out once every 15-20 years resulting in the flooring having an extremely long existence, this is why wood flooring is often seen as a great investment.
The plank width is 150mm (15cm) and the lengths are random between 300-1200mm (30cm-120cm) allowing you to install the flooring in the ever so popular staggered pattern. Lengths which are random do minimise the amount of wastage you need to purchase. This solid oak flooring product has been carefully finished with seven layers (coats) of pearl satin UV lacquer which protects the surface and creates an extremely durable floor. However, as this is a natural product we would always advise you take steps to prevent scratches and to mop up any spillages or splashes as quickly as possible.
The grade of this solid oak flooring is rustic meaning the planks will ooze with character showcasing some natural knots and imperfections. The joining profile on the product is tongue and groove meaning the planks will simply slide in together. There are two ways in which you can install this solid oak floor, the most popular would be to bond the flooring to the sub floor using an adhesive, or alternatively secret nailing the flooring to a wooden sub floor. All these methods are popular but one thing we would advise is to make sure the sub floor is level. This product is sourced from the finest quality forests out in Europe and comes with a 25 year manufacturers guarantee.
All matching profiles and accessories are available under the accessories tab on the website. So you can rest assured you can purchase all your flooring requirements from Luxury Flooring.
